5 Lessons of Bhagavad Gita

The Mahabharata stands as the quintessential historical narrative, encapsulating every facet of human experience: emotions, senses, ambitions, devotion, hatred, and love. Within this sacred text lies the Bhagavad Gita, a reservoir of wisdom that resonates with such profound clarity that it effortlessly connects with the life journey of every individual.

A war is happening in the world, let it be externally or internally to the material body. What is important here is the reason and solution for it. Why is it happening depends on the person's own reasons despite how it can end depends on the complete spiritual as well as practical approach(although we should understand that the spiritual approach is the practical approach that is likely to be understood with higher consciousness.).

Bhagavad Gita is the ultimate philosophy defining text which if understood through the whole heart, can entirely make your whole life a garden of flowers. Here are the 5 teachings that Bhagavad Gita has taught us which are really relatable for the 20s and 30s age population mainly.

Discover the Potential of Detachment

Detachment is the key to the peace of mind. Detachment can be practised on two levels, the first level is emotional detachment. The person who is in contact with everyone but who is connected emotionally to himself only is emotionally detached.

The person who is independent of the emotional behaviour of others remains calm and at peace.

The emotional attachment results in desires and when these desires are not fulfilled it results in anger and greed. The person who has got the same desires fulfilled becomes an enemy or what we can say the point of envy for the person who couldn't.

The second level is somewhat for those people who cannot fully control their emotions easily and cannot pursue the spiritual path easily. The next level of detachment is getting completely detached from the person. If we are trying our best and still the person is not offering even a single effort, then the best way to achieve peace is to be autonomous with their presence.

Envy is the Real Enemy

Envy kills a person internally entirely. Again the person who keeps desires with everything that he does must be paying a loan when everything falls apart. Envy is a state of mind where a person is upset about the superiority of some other person. There is a difference between envy and jealousy, jealousy is a state of mind in which a person is afraid to lose someone or something. Having jealousy is still a not-so-far-reached state because you can talk and sort it out easily or you can have some changes in your habits or behaviour and you can easily adjust to it but envy is a far reached state where you are always in a troubled state of mind.

Bhagavad Gita says,

I am having this and I am going to have this, this is my wealth and this would be my wealth. This state of mind causes a person to bury in so much pride that a single failure can even make him fall loudly on the floor.

Leave the Fear and Fight Ahead

The only reason that we don't dare to do something is fear, let it be fear of failure, let it be fear of loss, let it be fear of getting scolded or punished. But we don't tend to think that fear is also a state of mind only. Life is full of challenges, the one who doesn't face any challenge is either the one who is dead or the one who left the hope of winning. The person who is totally furious about winning and achieving success never cares about the cons of doing something if the end product is not going to hurt anyone at all.

Bhagavad Gita says that the person who is scared to do anything and who is scared to choose the path of dharma is a weak person and that person should lose all his fear and rise to build the path to dharma.

Savouring Every Step

Our path to our goal may be rugged and full of turns but we should focus on enjoying the path and celebrating the small destinations that we have crossed. We often become so ambitious about the target that we start forgetting that the target should always be learning and not achieving.
I have a favourite sutra from the Bhagavad Gita,

The very meaning of this sutra is sufficient enough to enrol the entire world in the joy of the journey and not in the satisfaction and love for the results. What will be more satisfying than the entire journey, the entire success that we have covered along every obstacle, every courageous action that we took for every difficult and hopeless situation. We should be not entitled to the outcome and results. Love for the outcome is a different thing and love for the profits of the results is another.

A Real Challenger is Never Demotivated

What if I tell you that you are what you think and you are what you tell everyone about yourself. The person who is focused on his duty and is never depressed or demotivated when the obstacles are standing as a wall in front of him is the one who is even loved by the universe itself.
I have a favourite quote from my favourite anime which is

As long as I live, there are infinite chances.

Bhagavad Gita says,

A person does all his duties with pure heart and after many attempts, he becomes the one who he decided to be.
